LED Flush-Mount Fender Line

Challenge
Aftermarket Harley fenders typically install as dumb plastic or fiberglass shells — no factory wiring integration, no flush lighting, exposed brake-light housings bolted on top. True Kustom set out to build a fender product line that looked and installed like a factory part, while remaining manufacturable at volume rather than one-off custom work.
Approach
The full development cycle, repeated across three fender codes: concept and surface design; a prototype buck to lock in final geometry ahead of tooling; a production mold pulled from that buck, enabling repeatable fiberglass manufacturing instead of hand-built shells; fit-checking and trimming against the target Harley platform; reverse-engineering the stock fender’s factory connector and wiring pinout so the aftermarket part plugged in as a direct factory-match swap with no splicing; a brake light sitting flush with the fender surface, with the LED components sourced and the housing designed into the shell itself; a masking and paint technique so the flush light disappears into the finished surface when off, with no visible housing seam; a sequential turn signal, including sourcing the sequencing controller and LED strip and engineering the layout, wiring, and installation; and production SOPs written so the fender could be built repeatably at volume.
Result
The fender line became True Kustom’s strongest product line and its most technically distinctive work — the flush brake light and sequencer turn signal in particular set it apart from typical bolt-on aftermarket parts. It is the clearest example in the archive of product development taken concept-to-market: design, tooling, a documented production system, and OEM-grade integration, not just custom craft.
