Challenge

A repeat client from Montana came to True Kustom with a bike he’d already started customizing himself — he’d fabricated drum hardware into functioning motorcycle parts before it ever reached the shop. He wanted a rock-and-roll theme built around that foundation.

Approach

Phase one was a Jimi Hendrix piece — Hendrix setting a guitar on fire — airbrushed onto the front fairing. The client came back twice more. Phase two expanded the theme into a tribute to the 27 Club: Ronnie Van Zant and Bon Scott joined Hendrix on the front fairing, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison went on the fuel tank, and two deliberate exceptions rounded it out — Stevie Ray Vaughan (who made it past 27) on one saddlebag, Bob Marley on the other, and Johnny Cash on the fender, included for carrying the spirit of rock and roll. White smoke was airbrushed the length of the bike to tie the composition together. A third round added a 26-inch front wheel, a raked front end, and a new fender color-matched and airbrushed with three guitar models — a Les Paul, a Stratocaster, and a Gibson SG.

Result

A three-phase build relationship rather than a single commission — the client returned twice for expanded work, evidence of a repeat-client, trust-building pattern rather than one-off transactional jobs.
